Drooling is expected in babies, who do not yet have full control over their mouths or swallowing muscles. Drooling usually caused by excess saliva in the mouth. Excessive Drooling can affect children with special needs for a number of reasons. Excessive drooling can be stigmatizing or embarrassing. It can damage clothing and have hygiene implications such as redness around the neck and chin. Providing your child with an adorable and really “kool” neck wrap (bib) is one way to help decrease the effects of the excessive drooling. The caretaker can easily wipe the child’s mouth or help teach the child to do this periodically on their own without having to carry around a wipe. Too often the Drool Bibs constructed for this use are cute however the layers are not absorbent and substantial enough to handle the amount of drool produced.
