Evidence suggests that weight and pressure inputs provide both tactile and proprioceptive input to the body, calming the central nervous system as well as providing postural support and input to weak, floppy, or low tone (hypotonia) musculature.
Compression Deep touch pressure causes the release of both serotonin and dopamine in the brain. These are "happy " neurotransmitters and produce a feeling of calm. Sensory Compression and Deep pressure often increase our Happy hormones while also slowing down our involuntary functions such as heart rate, blood pressure and the stress hormone cortisol. I ordered a true to size for my daughter. This undershirt came and was too big so I tried it for her older brother (she's a true size 6 ordinarily and he is a true 8 ordinarily). He LOVES this shirt and honestly the size is just perfect for him. I had him try on a size 6 sleeveless compression shirt, and while he like the fit on his torso, he did find that the armpit holes rubbed him. That problem is totally fixed with the undershirt, there is no rubbing at all (lots of space).
I bought these at my son’s therapists suggestion and he loves them. I bought two but he wants to wear them every day so I went back and got 4 more. IMO they run a little large, I originally purchased a size 7 (he is a few months shy of 7 years), but he is tall and slim so exchanged for 6 and ultimately down to 5 to attain therapeutic compression with his therapists input as to how snug they should be. Overall very happy with the product and customer service!
This compression undershirt was exactly what we needed for our Autistic kiddo. He loves the comfort and the feeling of a constant hug. He doesn’t want to take it off that’s how much he loves it, and we noticed how it helps him be more regulated once he is using it. Thank you, we will 100% get another one once he is ready for the next size up.
Both my kids have a Kozie undershirt. My daughter in middle school is dealing with age-related anxiety and this helps calm her during her school day. My son, medically diagnosed ASD, benefits from the compression which helps emotionally regulate him. I highly recommend. Plus, these can be worn discreetly.
My daughter loves her new shirts. She says they feel like a hug. I did size down one size from the size chart and probably could have sized down two sizes, but they work with a bit of room to grow.
